How Important Are Your Golf Clubs in Improving Your Golf Game?

You are a competitor and your drive and determination pushes you to be the very best. Naturally, you want to finish at the top all the time, even though that is somewhat impossible to do and whatever sports you might be playing. Sure, you might not be a professional athlete, but that makes little or no difference to you. It means much less than the fact that you want to beat all comers, even if it means beating them in the friendliest of games where little more than bragging rights are at stake. And that’s the beauty of it, because you are motivated even when the stakes are ridiculously small. Yes, that’s how you are and you are always looking to improve your game, whatever game you might be playing.

Sometimes though, it is not enough that you are just motivated and driven. This is true even though you might be so pumped up to compete and take away the title from your opponent or in some cases their money as a result of some good natured little betting between you and your friends. And in this case your friends are also your fiercest competitors, and you certainly take it all very seriously. Indeed, it would take much more than your will to win, however considerable it might be. What you need, and what would help you be more than just a competitive player and rise to the next level, are some top notch equipment. This is true in every sport, but perhaps in some more than others. Should you happen to be competing in a game such as golf, then you have to know that the right equipment matters and will help you a lot in your game.

I happen to be one of those who play the game of golf, but who is also quite competitive and driven to succeed in just about every game that I play. The game of golf presents an entirely different set of challenges than those offered by other games. For one, it is a sport that puts your patience to the test, and stretches it to the very limit. This was something that I immediately found out, when I was still in the process of learning the game. There was a time when I almost quit, it was a time when I could hardly even understand the game, but then I stuck with it and persevered to learn. Gradually, I came to understand the game, and the importance of learning the skills properly and of course the equipment used for the game of golf.

Improving Your Game

The first step to actually balancing out your competitiveness with the actual results of playing is through improving your game. Every beginner should strive to be well aware of the fundamentals of the game, because without it, there wouldn’t be much chance for him to succeed later on, even if he is actually quite promising. It will serve as the foundation upon his overall game will be based. If you look at the formula for improving in the game, you might be led to think that it is quite simple, but of course that is never the case. But if you see the simplified formula of first learning the basics and fundamentals of the game like the different golf swings and other related skills. Then would come the part where you need to practice the skills and basics of the game that you learned. It has to be done repeatedly and in earnest and concentration to have positive results. And finally you need to execute what you’ve learned and practiced on the golf course, which can only be done by playing and competing.

Putting it into more detail, the following will guide the aspiring golf player:

• The basics of the golf swing need to be learned, and if possible to come as close to perfecting it as possible. It includes getting to grips with the following: stance, grip, posture and alignment, ball position at setting up, correct take away, the right down swing movements. Learning these properly will allow you to have a good and consistent golf swing, helping you go for those low scores that’s the target of each player. Then there are the different shots that need to be learned in order for the golfer to get through any tricky situation out on the course. Some of those shots include: lob shot, how to escape from sand traps, chip and run, pitching it high, playing it low, fading the ball from left to right, and drawing the ball from left to right.

• Once you have learned what you need to do in order to be good at golf, or at least be competent and competitive, it is time to start practicing. Improvement can only be achieved through constant practice, and even those who are already good can maintain their high level of skill by practicing as much as possible. Everyone needs to practice, even the good ones, that’s a fact that each aspiring golfer needs to take notice of.

• After all the learning and practicing, you just need to go out there and play. By simply playing as much golf and against anyone, you can somehow improve and fine tune your game. And of course you must always enjoy the game, no matter what. You may be getting beat or the course might be proving unfair to you, but you just need to keep playing and never waver, and if you have that competitive fire within you then chances are that you will prevail.

The Swing of Things: Importance of the Golf Club

Earlier it was mentioned that the equipment is a crucial part of the game of golf. In the game of golf, probably the most important piece of equipment is the golf club. There are several kinds of golf clubs, used for different purposes and because playing the game requires different kinds of shots. By this fact alone you will see that the golf club is pretty important not only during the actual playing, but as the golfer learns and improves his game. A golfer needs to use either an iron golf club or a wooden golf club, and it depends entirely on the kind of shot that he wants and needs to make.

If you want to rate the golf clubs according to their importance and frequency of use, then the putter is the most used and can be considered as the important of golf clubs. This is due to the putt being the most frequent shot, accounting for more than double the number of other shots used during a game. Then after the putter would have to be the driver, since a good drive would just make the shots on any particular hole much easier. However, for golfers who are finding it very difficult to hit the green in the regulation number of strokes may find that they will need to use the wedges frequently, second most frequent in fact, behind only the putter. This might often be the case for beginners in the game, who would need to spend anywhere between 15 and 20 strokes just chipping up to the green.
